Opportunity Snapshot

In addition to helping shape this newly created role, you will be on the ground floor of a well-capitalized innovative venture with solid leadership and high growth potential. If the status quo is feeling a bit stale at your current company, welcome to the club: we're bringing a fresh approach to the entire auto loan industry, and we'll expect you to be creative and entrepreneurial.

You will ensure optimal portfolio performance with regard to asset remarketing, bankruptcy, and deficiency collections. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have deep experience in auto financing (including significant management experience) and a track record of success managing asset remarketing from sub-prime loans. We're looking for a professional with a strong sense of integrity and honesty, and a demonstrated ability to impact the bottom line via performance management. You also will need supervisory experience and an open-minded and people-focused approach to leadership.

Sixth Gear is out to change the automotive loan industry by providing superior customer satisfaction -- for both car buyers and dealers -- delivered by employees who love their work. A new venture launched by former executives from AmeriCredit and Chase, Sixth Gear is bringing a fresh approach to the automotive loan industry. Our leaders not only are passionate about creating the kind of environment that people want to work in, but also have track records of building award-winning cultures. And we have significant capital to make it happen.

What Else You'll Bring to the Table

In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
  • At least ten years of auto finance experience, including sub-prime automobile collections.
  • Strong experience in the area of asset remarketing (including sub-prime) and experience in EITHER bankruptcy or deficiency collections; experience managing all three areas is strongly preferred.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to thrive in a fast paced startup environment.
  • The ability to understand and execute risk management strategies.
  • The ability to manage third party relationships and ensure compliance with Company goals.
  • The ability and willingness to travel between 30 and 50% of the time.
Preferred but not required:
  • Experience in the financial services sector.
  • Experience with outsourcing and vendor relationship management.
  • A proven ability to help grow a business.
  • Previous start up experience.
  • A college degree.
This position is based in Phoenix, AZ, and relocation assistance is available.

What's in It for You

Mission: growth -- this isn't just about managing these functions, but about building a robust and scalable operation. While processes and systems are in place, you will ensure that they continue to run smoothly as we grow -- and grow quickly.

High visibility -- we are a lean organization and you'll have frequent contact with our senior leaders, who all have deep experience in this industry.

Great work environment -- our leaders are passionate about creating the kind of environment that people want to work in, and understand the importance of investing in the right people, infrastructure, culture, technology, and solutions. And we have significant capital to make it happen.

Excellent compensation -- in order to attract and retain top talent, we're offering a competitive salary, bonus incentive program, and generous benefits that start on day one. Benefits include stock options; vacation; medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) plan; pre-tax spending accounts; educational reimbursement; and more.

More About Your Role

If you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.

Reporting to our Collections Leader, you will lead an internal team and manage relationships with third party outsourcers. While your primary focus will be on portfolio performance in your areas, you also will ensure the smooth growth of both the internal team and our relationships with outsourcers. Within the seven-year period we have projected, it is possible that we will establish additional service centers.

We are slated to launch at the end of March 2008, and from that point we're anticipating quite a ride. You will assume responsibility for portfolio performance as it pertains to these key areas:
  • Asset remarketing, including disposition and remarketing of all automobile repossessions through third parties such as auction and Internet channels.
  • Bankruptcy, involving collection and servicing of all automobile bankruptcy accounts, including Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 scenarios.
  • Deficiency collections, including collections and servicing of automobile loans that previously have been charged off.
You can expect to travel between 30 and 50% of the time, including visiting our corporate headquarters in Manhattan and spending time with outsourcers.

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will have the ability to keep one eye on the future and the other on day-to-day operations. You also will need to flourish in a fast-paced environment; you won't just be adapting to change -- you will be leading it. In addition, in order to be an outstanding Asset Management Operations Leader, you will:
  • Embrace analytics and risk management as a proactive approach to optimizing performance.
  • Be effective at managing multiple activities with competing priorities.
  • Bring a long-term commitment to helping achieve our vision for the future.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
